1st Doctors Appointment

Isabella had her two week check up on Tuesday. We were excited to go find out how much weight she had gained and to make sure she had fully recovered from her jaundice. She weighed in at 5lbs. 12.5oz. She's quite a little chunk. All her other vital signs looked good. She did have to have some more blood drawn because the Doctor had some concerns about a blood test from the hospital. Hopefully in the next few days we'll hear some good news about the results. The lab tec that took her blood was very slow and Isabella did not like it. Luckily when he was done he wrapped her foot in a yellow bandage with little black bees on it. She was very excited about that because the hornets are her favorite school mascot (her Dad didn't like that very much). Go Hornets!

Visitors

Aunt Kellie came up to visit for a couple of days. I think her "I only sleep during daylight hours" policy fit right in with our current arrangements.
Shiara and Owen stopped by for a visit today. It was good to see them again (we haven't seen them since they left the hospital). It was funny to see what a normal baby looks like compared to Isabella.

I love this little girl

Isabella loves to have one arm up almost all the time. This makes it difficult to swaddle her, esspecially at night. She always ends up with scratches on one side of her face.
Isabella likes to make these funny faces when she's falling asleep. It's like she's laughing at her own inside joke.
This is Isabella's kissy face. She loves it when I kiss her, I think she likes the sound it makes.

I do realize that the only people that will find these videos entertaining are Isabella's grandparents. So for the rest of you, bear with me and you don't have to watch.

This blog contains nudity...

Isabella had her first bath on Saturday. She hated it! It was pretty funny. She's so little that when she's naked there's not much to hold on to and being wet did not help. It was all worth it though because she had that cute baby smell when we were all finished. I love that.

One week old

We celebrated Isabella's one week birthday on Sunday. It was a pretty uneventful day. Our doctor doesn't want Isabella to be in large groups of people so we couldn't got to church to show her off. We did have a home health nurse come over and check her our. Beacuse her jaundice test scores were so good when we checked out of the hospital she didn't have to have her blood drawn (like we thought she would). We got her weighed again and she's climbing the scales like a champion. When we left the hospital ahe weighed in at 5lbs. 3oz. and at one week old she's already up to 5lbs. 8oz. (past her birth weight of 5lbs. 6oz.). This might tell you what kind of eater she is. Once she decides that she's hungry there's nothin that we can do to console her except feed her. I think Dad is feeling a little left out because of this. I'm sure in the next 18 years Isabella will make up for this and become Daddy's little girl. I keep making fun of him for this beacuse Isabella has a little outfit that says 'Daddy's Little Girl' on it and every time she wears it she poops all over it. It is so funny. One exciting thing Isabella got to do on Sunday was to help Daddy study for an upcoming test. Fun!

Finally Home

We were finally released from the hospital on Thursday. We were very excited to find out that Isabella was well enough to be released without having to do any more time under the phototherapy lights. She was definately ready to be done with those lights. After thinking that we were leaving on Wednesday, our doctor was nice enough to come as early as possible on Thursday morning. He was there waiting for her test scores to come back so we didn't have to wait around to find out what we were doing. After we got all packed up we found out that Isabella hates her car seat. She screamed and screamed when I first put her in it. It was sad, but funny at the same time. After I took her out and calmed her down, she went back into the seat with only a little fussing. Once we were in the car and on our way she was perfectly happy. I don't know if it was the motion of the car or the fact that we were finally out of our hospital room.
We also got a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Rogerson on Thursday. They came up to Oregon to pick up Great Grandma Dunn and stopped by to see their newest grandbaby. It was nice to see them and we're glad that they could come up (since Grandma is going to be out of town for a month by the time we make it down to Redding).

Our friends came by and decorated our apartment for Isabella. It still looked good after being up for so many days just waiting for us to come home.
